McAuliffe 5th-grade students greet arriving parents dropping off students. The fifth-graders are decked out in orange safety vests and as each car comes to a stop along the sidewalk they open the doors, help their fellow students out of the cars, give parents and classmates a cheerful "Good Morning", and then close the car door. It's like having personal valet service!
Positive Behavior Support encourages students to evaluate their behavior related to Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect throughout their day.

State ratings have improved at four neighborhood schools in District 6 and one charter school program, according to reports released today by the Colorado Department of Education, while no neighborhood schools declined. This year, 26 percent of District 6 schools, including charters, are rated as High or Excellent, compared to 19 percent in 2005. The percentage rated as Low has declined from 53 percent in 2005 to 37 percent in 2008.
McAuliffe Elementary School, which was rated as a High achieving school in each of the last three years, has entered the Excellent category, the highest possible rating. The school also earned a High growth rating, meaning its students showed significantly more academic progress during the year than similar schools across Colorado. | |
